AI Research/Machine Learning Engineer - Agent Products

Perplexity is seeking experienced AI Research/Machine Learning Engineers and Scientists to own our Agent Products (Answering Agent, Deep Research, the Comet Browser Agent). Applicants should be well versed in all aspects of LLM prompting and training, code execution and tool-calling in order to keep redefining what is possible with advanced retrieval. Responsibilities include designing a production and training system that allows for an autonomous LLM-powered agent to perform various tools across web, browsing, retrieval, code execution to answer user queries with high quality answers and citations; partnering with the Core Research & Post-Training Team to refine model querying and summarization; devising multi-turn Evals to capture regressions; improving codebase speed and quality; and collaborating with GTM leaders and stakeholders to develop integrated product solutions across research verticals like Travel and Retail. Qualifications include proven research experience with large-scale LLMs and Deep Learning systems, strong post-training skills including supervised and reinforcement learning techniques, strong consumer product intuition for Agent products, understanding of tradeoffs in developing end-to-end agents, and a minimum of 5 years working in relevant deep learning research areas.
